Last summer, back before coronavirus, back when concerts were still a thing and back when Woojin was still in the group, I went to see Stray Kids perform at the O2 Academy in Brixton. The Stray Kids ‘Unveil’ Tour only included one London show, which was SOLD-OUT and took place on the 28th of July.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with them, Stray Kids (often abbreviated to SKZ) are an all-male K-pop group, formed by JYP Entertainment. The group originally consisted of nine members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, I.N and Woojin but Woojin left the group in October, due to “personal reasons”. Woojin stood out to me the most when I first discovered the group, because of his angelic vocals which are, dare I say, one of the best in the K-pop industry. I was really disappointed to hear that he had left the group but I wish the best for him and hope that he will continue to release music, as a solo artist.

My friends and I bought seated tickets for the show as we have grown to hate standing at K-pop concerts. It was also convenient to have seated tickets as we didn’t need to queue up for ages, like we had to do for BTS’ O2 Arena show, and we were able to make our way into the venue at our own pace. It was really hot that day so I’m so glad that we were seated because at least we had some space to ourselves. The capacity for the O2 Academy in Brixton is roughly 5,000 people so, as the show was sold-out, it was pretty cramped. We managed to find tickets that were close to the front of the balcony so we had a pretty decent view of the stage.

Stray Kids kicked off the show with ‘Hellevator’ (a song from their pre-debut EP) and ended with ‘Get Cool’ (which is the song that got me into them) and ‘YAYAYA’. The energy that they bring to the stage is insane, they’re so funny and playful, and you can tell that they genuinely love what they do. The lighting design, the choreography, the outfits; everything was perfect and made me respect them even more as artists. They are honestly so talented.

Stray Kids recently released their newest album, titled ‘Go Live’, just last month. My favourite tracks from the album are ‘God’s Menu’ (‘神메뉴’), ‘Easy’ and ‘Blueprint’ (‘청사진’) all of which, conveniently, have music videos as well. Honestly, the whole album is amazing so I’d definitely recommend it. ‘Go Live’ – go listen!
